Ghoghardiha Prakhand Swarajya Vikas Sangh (GPSVS) is a major civil society organisation based in Madhubani district of Bihar, one of the most backward states of India. Famous for its art and culture, Madhubani today is not even a shade of its glorious past.

High ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, Acharya Vinoba Bhave and Jayprakash Narayan have shaped GPSVS, which believes in the society in which moral revolution constitutes a significant part.

GPSVS was formed in 1977 in a meeting of social workers and was registered as a society on July 11, 1978. It started with the organisation of gram sabhas (village forums) and mahila mandals (village committees) with representation of every section of society in it. At that time it had separate wings such as youth, women, bhoodan (land donation) farmers, etc., to address their appropriate needs.

After the formative phase the organisation carried a massive programme of awareness generation, which was followed by other pro-poor development activities with the support of local communities and some support agencies.
